تنم فرسودہ، جاں پارہ ز ہجراں، یا رسول اللہ
دلم پژمردہ، آوارہ ز عصیاں، یا رسول اللہ

Translation:
My body is dissolving in your separation & my soul is breaking into pieces. Ya Rasulullah!
Due to my sins, My heart is weak and becoming enticed. Ya Rasulullah!

Urdu:
یا رسول اللہ، آپ سے دوری کی وجہ سے میرا تن فرسودہ اور جان پارہ پارہ ہو چکی ہے اور میرا دل گناہوں کی وجہ سے مرجھایا ہوا اور آوارہ ہے (بھٹک رہا ہے)

Tanam Farsooda Jaan Para, Ze Hijra Ya Rasul Allah
Dillam Paz Murda Aawara, Ze Isyaa. Ya Rasul Allah!

ہے میری جان تے تن تارا تارا یا رسول اللہ ۖ، ہے دل دکھیاں گناوا نال سارا یا رسول اللہ

چوں سوئے من گذر آری، منِ مسکیں ز ناداری
فدائے نقشِ نعلینت کنم جاں، یا رسول اللہ

Translation:
When you pass by me
Then even in my immense poverty, ecstatically,
I must sacrifice my soul on your blessed sandal. Ya Rasulullah!

Urdu:
اگر آپ (ص) کبھی میری طرف تشریف لائیں تو میں مسکین ناداری اور عاجزی سے آپ کے نعلینِ مبارک کے نقش پر اپنی جان قربان کر دوں۔

Translation:
I am drowned in the taste of your love
And the chain of your love binds my heart.
Yet I don’t say that I know this language (of love). Ya Rasulullah!

Urdu:
آپ کی محبت کے جام سے میں مست ہوں اور میرا دل آپ کی زنجیر سے بندھا ہوا ہے، میں یہ نہیں کہتا کہ میں کوئی سخندان ہوں (یہ سب تو فقط آپ کی محبت سے ہے)۔

Nu’mi Goyam Ke Mun Bustum, Sukun Daa. Ya Rasul Allah!

I am worried due to my misdeeds;

اپنے کیے پر میں حیران و پریشان ہوں، میرے نصیب میرے گناہوں سے سیاہ ہو چکے ہیں اور اس پر یا رسول اللہ میں پشمیان ہوں، پشیمان ہوں، پشیمان ہوں۔

Ze Kharda Khaish Hairaanam, Siyaa Shud Roze Isyaanam
Pashemaanam, Pashemaanam, Pashemaanam. Ya Rasul Allah!

میرا منہ ہو گیا کالا گناہاں دی سیاہی تو میں کیوں کیتی ہے پچھتاوا نکارا یا رسول اللہ

Translation:
Ya Rasulullah! When you spread your hands to intercede for the sinners,
Then do not deprive Jaami of your (Ya Rasul Allah) exalted intercession.

یا رسول اللہ جیسے کہ آپ کے شفاعت کے بازو گناہگاروں کے لیے کھلے ہوئے ہیں تو جامی کو اس (شفاعت) سے محروم نہ کیجیئے۔

A song based on a story cited by Imam Ghazali in his book “Duties of Brotherhood in Islam”, translated into English by Muhtar Holland. The story is of two friends from an ancient Jewish community, and deals with their lifestyle of devotion and worship, how one of them goes astray, and how his friend takes him by the hand, back to his original path.

The Spirit (Jibra’il) stopped and did not continue
[saying] go on alone Taha

‘an ’ahli l-bayti l-’ashrāf
May God be pleased with his intimates
from his noble family

Wa-l-’aṣhābi ’ūli-l-’insāf
Nālu l-khulda wa-suknāhā
And his companions, the people of justice
Who gained eternity and its dwelling

Jamīlun na‘tuhū

His eyes, dark and wide

His face is like the moon
His form is resplendent
His character is mighty
Taha, the chosen one

Rahīmun qalbuhū
Ṣadūqun wa‘duhū
‘Amīmun jūduhū
Māḥin muntaqā
His heart is kind,
His promises are kept
His generosity is vast
The effacer (of sins), the chosen one
